Award Recipients'

Olivia Haven-2019

"Winning the Keith W. Fengler Memorial Scholarship in 2019 was an incredible honor and a pivotal moment in my life.  The scholarship, which celebrates Keith's legacy of creativity, hard work, and a passion for Apple technology, not only provided me with the tools needed to excel but also reaffirmed my dedication to pursuing a career in aviation.  Receiving an Apple computer as part of the award was especially meaningful, as it allowed me to further develop my skills and approach my college coursework with confidence.  Throughout my time in college, this scholarship continued to inspire me to "think different," much like Keith did, and it played a key role in shaping my academic and career path."

"The laptop I received through the Fengler Scholarship carried me through college and law school and over that time, served as a crucial reminder that my achievements could only be possible with help from others.  No success in life is achieved alone, and I am proud to say that the Fengler Scholarship was a cornerstone to receiving both of my degrees.  The Fengler's dedication to setting up high school seniors for success in their post-high school gave me the reliable computer I needed to complete school assignments, apply for jobs, and ultimately finish law school online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  I am endlessly grateful for the Fengler's for continuing to honor their son through this scholarship and that I get to be part of the community that has been positively impacted by their commitment to giving back to their community"

Ava Breitbeck-2018

"Ten years has passed since I enrolled in a graphic art class at the Keith W. Fengler Mac Media Lab at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.  In this room, I learned valuable skills across numerous platforms-but more importantly, I gained confidence to use technology to advance my personal interests and creative scholarship.  It was and continues to be a tremendous honor.  I am now in the final sprint to my doctoral degree at Syracuse University, and I still use the same computer I was generously awarded.  This computer has propelled me through all my undergraduate and graduate studies including several years of COVID-induced online learning.  Over the summers, I teach physics to undergraduate students through Zoom, which would never have been possible without the generous gift.  Truly, this scholarship has made all opportunities possible.

I extend my heartfelt wishes to the Fengler family and friends.  Once again, thank you."

"I wanted to be an artist as a kid, but as college got closer, my creative side was put on hold as I prioritized AP and business classes to prepare for a career in business.  I still remember creating my Keith W. Fengler scholarship website 11 years ago-ideating, designing, photographing, and editing-I had so much fun with it!  Winning that scholarship meant so much to me then because I got to use my creative/design side, and it still means a lot to me over 10 years later.  I went on to study business in college and working in consulting until two years ago when I left to pursue a more creative path.  In doing so, I needed to utilize my graphic design skills and the first thing that helped me reconnect with my creativity was the same MacBook I won a decade ago-it became a starting tool for this new journey."

"The Fengler scholarship provided me with the tools I needed to succeed as a student, an athlete, and far into my professional career.  From late nights at the library, to long film sessions with coaches, to preparing for countless interviews to eventually get my dream job, this would not be possible without the scholarship in Keith Fengler's Honor. The legacy that this scholarship embodies is hard work, determination, and creativity.  I am forever grateful for this scholarship and all the tools it provided me in my collegiate and early adulthood."

Alexis Kane-2014

"Winning this scholarship while a student at CNS set me up for a successful college education that led to my dream job.  This scholarship allowed me to enter college with a laptop and reduce the financial burden when entering a stressful time in my life.  Throughout my time at CNS and my college years I fostered a passion for technology and design.  This led me to my current position as a product manager at Microsoft, designing accessible technology for people with disabilities.  I will always look back and be thankful for this scholarship."
